Best DPI for FPS Games (400 vs 800 vs 1600)
What DPI do pros use, and when to use 400, 800, or 1600 DPI.
What is DPI?
DPI (dots per inch) is how many pixels your mouse reports per inch of movement. Higher DPI = cursor moves further per inch. In games, what matters is the combination of DPI and in-game sensitivity — that’s eDPI (effective DPI). Same eDPI = same 360° distance, regardless of DPI.
400 vs 800 vs 1600 DPI
Many CS2/Valorant pros use 400 or 800 DPI. 400 DPI: classic choice, lower cursor speed on desktop. 800 DPI: very popular; good balance. 1600 DPI: smoother in-game with lower in-game sens; used by more players now. Pick one and stick to it; then adjust in-game sensitivity to get your desired eDPI.
What eDPI to aim for?
CS2: 600–1200 eDPI is common. Valorant: 200–400 eDPI. Use our sensitivity converter to keep the same feel across games when you change DPI or sens.
